LA Frieze 2024 was my first major Art Fair that included my work! I was featured as a guest artist through Francois Ghebaly Gallery, with the collage/assemblage sculpture, Sweat Equity (2005).
I was delighted to see many artists as well as all the contemporary art and encountered friends throughout the arts community.
There was also a greater diversity of people attending than I expected over the three out of four days that I attended. In the end, I’ve learned quite a bit about how people view, value, and purchase art. I was very intrigued by the presence of the museums who were drawn to my artwork and perhaps recognized not only its aesthetic value but its social value too! Such museums included:
- California African American Museum,
- Smithsonian,
- National Museum of African American History and Culture,
- Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago,
- Benton Museum of Art Pomona College,
- Venice Institute of Contemporary Art LA CA,
- Socrates Sculpture Park NY.
Much appreciation to the Ghebaly Gallery Team,
Dominique
